Recycling machines
and installations
The highest-rate equipment and facilities are totally designed for achievement of the main goal to close the full waste-free operation cycle. They are perfectly conforming to the environmental standards and requirements. This is the only company in Bulgaria having the technical and technological capability for treatment of such wide range of waste and its reutilization. Practically, after commissioning of all commenced projects as well as the operating plants, an effect of zero environmental pollution will be achieved.

Shredding Plant for Processing of End-of-Life Motor Vehicles
“Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. was the first in Bulgaria to introduce a shredding plant for old vehicles and metal scrap treatment. The plant was produced by the Italian firm BONFIGNLIOLI with capacity of 6 tons/hour, subsequently replaced by one of the most up-to-date shredding plants in Eastern Europe for treatment of end-of-life motor vehicles (EOLMV) and motor vehicle waste. It is manufactured by the German firm METSO LINDEMANN with capacity 40 tons/hour.
The new plant uses unique separating technology. After 20 levels of processing, about 90% of end products and waste obtained after vehicles processing are shredded metal scrap. In the process of shredding metal scrap is ground to pieces with size of 5-10 cm and ferrous and non-ferrous metals are separated. The material obtained is an end product – the most precious raw material for metallurgical works.
“Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. was the first to adopt the system of payment for end-of-life cars and their collection from the site. The company has recycled 100 000 vehicles.
End-of-Life Tyres Processing Plant
Over the recent decades the number of automobiles produced in the world has increased immensely with each following year. A tendency that leads to even greater increase in the quantity of end-of-life tyres.
“Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. runs a plant with capacity 2,5 tons/hour through which all kinds end-of-life tyres can be processed to materials that are introduced for the second time in manufacturing: 2 sizes of granulated rubber, metal scrap (in the form of wire)and textile
Oil Filters Processing Plant
Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. runs the only plant in Bulgaria for oil filters processing. The plant capacity is 2 tons/hour.
The end products after automated processing are iron and non-ferrous metals, оwaste oil and low-oil paper. In order to improve the efficiency of that process, the company will utilize also paper in the form of briquettes.
End-of-Life Electrical and Electronic Equipment Processing Plant
“Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. imported in Bulgaria the first end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment processing plant. This is the only installation in the country to combine two lines of processing – for refrigerators and for electrical and electronic scrap.
After the dangerous components have been separated (freon, oils), the appliances are dismantled and through a fully automated process plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metals are separated, and the polyurethane foam is processed to obtain briquettes. Capacity: 2,5 tons/hour
Slag Processing
“Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. is an owner of more than 20 000 000 tons of slag accumulated in the storage sites of KREMIKOVTSI Metallurgical works which are processed through a special mill for treating slag from blast-furnace and steel-making production.
The slag is deironed and fractioned till reaching refined raw materials: metal return and inert materials /deironed and fractioned slag
Amongst the facilities which the firm runs, there is also a briquetting machine that processes the small fraction of the iron obtained till producing briquettes.
Beside the effect of physical removal of the slag backlog, the terrain will be recultivated and verdurized.
Plasma Plant
The main idea of “Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. is to close the full cycle of operations performed by the company and, most of all, completely reprocess the waste generated during the company’s main activities, namely: scrap left from end-of-life vehicles, electronics, household electrical appliances.
The construction of an unique plasma plant for waste processing and energy generation from end-of-life motor vehicles, electrical and electronic scrap and other wastes is in an initial phase. This new technology is extremely environmentally friendly thanks to:
- the end products of the process are completely safe filling agents and steam
- all kinds of waste can be treated in this process.
The plant was developed by the Swedish company ScanArc and adopted in several European states such as Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Spain and Hungary.

Recycling Centres
“Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. is expanding the wide range of ecological activities developed and implemented by it, by introducing the most recent technology of source separation of wastes – recycling centres produced by the Norwegian firm TOMRA. Upon acceptance, the packages (plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles and paper)are automatically scanned and sorted, mechanically compacted, so that one single recycling centre is equal in capacity to 40 source separation containers and, besides, in it 100% separation of the different materials is achieved.
The main effects are: reduction of a large percentage of the municipal waste,
,reuse of all the materials received, reduction of the environmental pollution caused by waste generation. Some indirect effects, but probably even more important in the present situation in Bulgaria, of the adoption of these recycling centers, will be considerable improvement of the community’s “environmental culture”. “Ecometal Engineering” Ltd. is planning to hold elucidating and educational campaigns addressing environmental protection.
An important prerequisite for the project implementation is also the fact that the company has all the technical and transport facilities required for the various cycles: from handling of the material collected to its reutilization.

Wind and Solar Park Murgash Project
The Wind Park Murgash Project contemplates construction and operation of a wind turbine park of total power output 300 MW in the vicinity of Peak Murgash situated in the mountain at an altitude 1100 m to 1700 m and 30 km to the north-east of Sofia. The Wind Park will be connected to the regional grid and will replace the conventional power generation based on fossil fuels.
Development of the Wind Park is to take place in several phases and at its closure there will be 240 turbines installed.
For the needs of the project site, Ecosource Energy has purchased more than 15 000 decares of land. The project documentation is ready and it is currently in the design visa phase.
The Murgash Solar Park Project envisages construction and operation of a park of photovoltaic modules with total power output of about 100 MW, in the vicinity of peak Murgash.
An eco-park and a “green” school will be built in the region of the wind and solar park.
